To grow can refer to a plant, animal or person to increasing in size, developing or changing physically over time, for example, a child grows into an adult. If something develops or expands or increases in size or number over a period of time you can use 'grow'. 'My savings should grow if I invest in the scheme for five years.' 'I hope the company will continue to grow at the same rate.' To 'grow' can also mean to develop into something over time, for example when talking about relationships. 'Our friendship grew over the years.'
