The word 'focus' is used as a verb and a noun. To focus something means to adjust so that it is clearly visible or defined. You can focus a camera, telescope or microscope for example in order to see the image clearly. To focus on something means to make it the centre of attention. "The study focused on women between the ages of 19-27" This use is similar in meaning to 'concentrate on'. As a noun, 'a focus' on something refers to what the main topic of something is about. "The focus of the documentary was on birds emigrating." "As a company, our focus is on high-quality entertainment." 'Re-focus' means to change the focus of something to something new or different. "If we refocus our approach to target an older audience we may find a larger customer base." It also means to physically adjust or readjust the focus on a lens on a camera, microscope or telescope for example.
