Somebody or something ‘vapid’ lacks interest, intelligence, or imagination. This absence of acumen, liveliness, or spirit means that people will typically try to avoid such people or things, and tend to talk scathingly about them.

1. A lot of what our supervisor says is totally vapid. He mostly just speaks because he loves the sound of his own voice.

2. Many critics lament the absurd vapidity of modern television which they feel is epitomized by the excess of reality TV shows.
