A ‘stingy’ person is not generous or free in using, giving, or spending something. It is most commonly used in relation to money, but it is not limited to that. The term can also be used to describe a small amount of something. While being careful with resources is generally seen as a sign of prudence, stinginess is exclusively viewed in a negative way, implying meanspirited selfishness.
My landlord is so stingy. There are a number of things broken in the house and he refuses to have them fixed.
I wouldn’t eat in that restaurant again. They serve very stingy portions there despite such high prices.
The boss’s stinginess with bonuses is ruining morale. Staff are not being fairly rewarded for hitting their targets.
