A ‘stingy’ person is not generous or free in using, giving, or spending something. It is most commonly used in relation to money, but it is not limited to that. The term can also be used to describe a small amount of something. While being careful with resources is generally seen as a sign of prudence, stinginess is exclusively viewed in a negative way, implying meanspirited selfishness.
