A ‘simpleton’ is a person lacking intellect and common sense. Such people typically do not have the ability to use reason and comprehend things easily. It is important to note that the term is not simply related to education. Somebody can have qualifications but still be regarded as a simpleton if they are overly naive and unwise. Often used as an insult.
