Something ‘risque’ borders on indecency by being suggestive of impropriety, particularly something sexual. It can be used in a variety of different contexts such as speech, writing, clothing, actions, etc., but is not considered to be highly offensive or obscene. Instead, it is seen as being a little bold or naughty.

Example(s)

1. Mary loved her new dress but thought that it was a little too risque for work, so she wore something more demure instead.

2. I want to change the name of our clothing company to something that’s quite risque. That will make it edgier and more noticeable.

3. I don’t want my son listening to that type of music. The lyrics are far too risque for somebody his age.
