When you ‘pulverize’ something, you crush or press it until it has been reduced to powder or a soft mass. This can be applied in either a literal or figurative sense. Figuratively the word can be used to express doing great damage to or utterly defeating somebody or something, though, in this sense, it is viewed as being informal.
