‘Outrage’ is a strong reaction of anger, shock, or disapproval. Therefore, ‘outrageous’ can be used to express somebody or something deserving of such a reaction, particularly with respect to going beyond standards of what is considered right or decent. However, it can also be used in a more positive sense to describe a different form of shocking, as in something bold, striking, and unusual.
