Somebody or something described as being ‘mendicant’ requests and relies on the support of others to live or exist. The term was adapted from members of a religious order who took a vow of poverty and therefore required charity in order to survive.
It’s a mendicant country that constantly seeks bailouts to prop up its failing, corrupted system.
I don’t think that Andrew will ever be self-sufficient. He has a mendicant mentality.
The industry is no longer sustainable. Advances in technology have left it isolated and mendicant.
