The word ‘malodorous’ is a formal way of saying that somebody or something doesn't smell nice. It has quite a large range; anything from an unpleasant all the way to an abominable smell is covered by this term. Less commonly, it can also refer to something considered highly improper or immoral.
In the summer when my windows are open, my apartment becomes filled with the malodorous smell of the grimy street outside.
Having to take a packed train home after work every night of the week is not pleasant. The malodourousness of some of the other people always bothers me.
A number of malodorous practices go on within that industry. That’s why I feel it needs much tighter regulation.
