depraved - corrupt

Behaviour or actions that are regarded as being perverse, corrupt, cruel, or lacking in moral decency can be described as ‘depraved’. Such is the strength of the word, it is generally reserved for very deserving cases such as when describing the mind or crimes of a murderer or rapist.

Example(s)

1. I hope the person on trial for that murder is given life in prison. Anybody who can commit a crime like that must be totally depraved.

2. John was never the same after returning from the war. He was traumatised by having witnessed acts of unspeakable depravity.

3. What started as recreational drug use soon descended into the depraved world of addiction, costing Jennifer her career and marriage.
